About us

Positive Competition is an economic consultancy that assists clients in merger, State aid and antitrust proceedings before competition authorities and courts as well as in follow-on and commercial litigation in multiple jurisdictions.

Who we are

We are a team of leading international competition experts who bridge law and economics, academia and practice, as well as business and enforcement.

Owing to our strong academic backgrounds, our experience in the European Commission and other enforcement agencies, as well as to our training in EU Competition Law, we can effectively integrate rigorous economic reasoning within the appropriate legal framework.

Our experts excel at effective communication of complex economic concepts and analyses to companies, lawyers and regulators.

Our in-depth knowledge of EU antitrust procedures allows us to propose innovative and pragmatic solutions to even the most challenging competition issues.

Our international team includes leading competition and regulatory experts with top academic credentials and relevant experience in economic consulting and enforcement. Most of our professionals hold PhDs from leading institutions. Our team can work in multiple languages, including English, French, Polish, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Romanian, Hungarian, Swedish, Finnish, and Portuguese.

Our experience spans virtually all sectors. We serve a diverse range of clients, including large corporations from Europe, America and Asia, active, amongst others, in FMCG, manufacturing, basic industries, agriculture, retail, health, media, energy, sports, insurance, high-tech and e-commerce.

Since its creation in 2018, Positive Competition has been rapidly expanding, having a positive impact on competition policy and economics, through its solid and innovative economic analysis, integrity, passion for competition, and the conviction that personal and professional fulfilment go hand in hand.

Our mission is to promote an in depth positive dialogue between lawyers and economists, academics and practitioners, as well as businesses and enforcers. This exchange should help shape adequate European competition decision-making.

Our goal is to improve the quality of economic analysis applied in competition cases. We are passionate about pushing the frontier of the relevant economic research and adapting it to market and policy developments.

our name

We believe in Positive Competition as a force that brings the best out of people, teams, markets and institutions.

The word positive here has two meanings:

First, rather than focusing on the negative in people, businesses and institutions, we prefer to focus on the positive. We always see the “glass half full rather than half empty” and encourage progress through open and constructive dialogue. We promote kindness, trust, respect and positive discipline in our organisation.

Secondly, the term relates to logical positivism in the field of social sciences and economics. While we do not necessarily subscribe to the positivist philosophy in all aspects of life, we firmly believe that economic arguments should be based on reason, logic and verifiable facts, rather than on prejudice and ideology. Competition policy and enforcement should be guided by these principles.

our logo

We chose a bridge as our logo because we want to “build a bridge” between enforcement agencies and the private sector, academia and practice, as well as law and economics.

Our logo features a bridge with two pillars, reflecting our credo that sound economic assessment should be based on both modern economic theory and robust empirical evidence.

our manifesto

As positive professionals, we prefer to see the “glass half-full” and to encourage progress through constructive dialogue. We promote kindness, respect and positive discipline in organizations.

Our social initiatives

As part of our corporate social commitment, we are proud sponsors of Team Lazare for the next Vendée Globe, United World Colleges’ education for peace and sustainable future, as well as, at local level, the Boitsfort Rugby Club.

All these initiatives promote high performance, fair play, team spirit, diversity and inclusion, which are the core values for Positive Competition. Rugby, Team Lazare and UWC go hand in hand with our belief that positive competition is a force that brings out the best in people and is a driver of positive change.
