Before joining Positive Competition in April 2019, he was an Assistant Professor of Econometrics and Game Theory at the International School of Economics in Almaty, Kazakhstan, a University of London affiliate institution. He was involved in both theoretical and empirical research, with a special focus on human resource allocation and organizational industrial organization.

Máté holds an MSc. in Economics from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD in Economics from ECARES in Brussels. His publication profile is diverse with international peer-reviewed publications ranging from energy economics to political economy.
