  • You hold a PhD in Economics, Econometrics or Statistics or an MSc in Economics or other related fields from a leading institution and a few years (4-5 years) of experience working in competition economics.
  • You have excellent skills in statistics and econometrics and a good knowledge of theoretical and empirical microeconomics and industrial organisation.
  • You draft and communicate effectively in English. Very good knowledge of other languages is a great additional asset for our team since we handle case work in many jurisdictions.
  • You are able to demonstrate your skills with a track record of publications, working papers, policy briefs, etc.
  • You can efficiently conduct empirical analysis in Stata and/or R.
  • You have a positive, can-do attitude and you are willing to actively engage with your colleagues.

What you will do

As part of a “human scale” team, you will get the opportunity to make a significant difference in our casework from day one. As an economist, you will help to understand the  client’s challenges, research innovative approaches to economic questions and present complex findings in a clear and structured way. You will be expected to work independently, to demonstrate critical thinking and actively participate in all aspects of a case. You will also begin to manage workstreams and teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating desk research efforts;
  • Checking the quality of work of analysts and interns;
  • Proposing adequate methodologies;
  • Adjusting the approach to available data and the facts of the case;
  • Carrying out complex economic analyses;
  • Conducting complex econometric analyses;
  • Drawing conclusions from analyses;
  • Drafting analytical sections of reports.
