- You hold a PhD in Economics (ideally with a focus on industrial organisation), Econometrics or Statistics or an MSc in Economics or a related field from a leading institution, and several years of experience as a competition economist (economic consultancy, competition authority, regulator).
- You have managed projects and small teams.
- You have case experience and a good knowledge of the main policy debates and case law.
- You have excellent statistical and econometrics skills
- You have a solid knowledge of theoretical and empirical microeconomics and industrial organisation.
- You can draft and communicate effectively in English. Very good knowledge of other languages is a great additional asset to our team since we handle casework in many jurisdictions.
- You can demonstrate your drafting skills with a track record of publications, working papers, policy briefs and others.
- You can efficiently conduct complex empirical analysis in Stata and/or R.
- You can effectively collaborate with in-house experts and academics.
- You have a positive can-do attitude and you are willing to actively engage with your colleagues.
What you will do
As part of a “human scale” team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant difference in our casework from day one. As a Senior Economist, you will demonstrate expertise in managing various aspects of the workflow and supporting the team in building fruitful client relationships. You will be actively involved in all the stages of case development. You will develop innovative solutions to the most complex competition issues. You will be able to clearly communicate our findings to clients, lawyers or government officials. You positively manage and supervise the work performed by our talented junior team members.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overall management of the projects;
- Defining the specific approach and methodology of the projects in liaison with the team leader, taking into account facts of the case, availability of data and information;
- Providing conceptual support for complex economic and econometric analyses;
- Ensuring overall consistency of analysis across different work streams of the project;
- Allocating resources between different work streams within the project;
- Supporting and supervising junior staff in the proper framing, execution and reporting of analyses;
- Drafting key sections of reports;
- Timely delivery of outputs;
- Quality control of reports.
