Jacques Crémer is a professor and researcher at the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) and a Senior Researcher at the CNRS. He has done fundamental work in planning theory, auction theory and organization theory. He was a Special Advisor to the European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager from April 2018 to April 2019 and is one of the authors of the report “Competition policy for the digital Era”. His current research at TSE focuses on organisation and contract theory, as well as on industrial organization, with a particular focus on the economics of the Internet and the software industry. He is also a Fellow of the Econometrics Society and a member of its Board.
Professor Jacques Crémer is a graduate of École Polytechnique (class of 1968) and MIT (MS Management, 1973, and PhD in Economics, 1977). He has taught at the University of Pennsylvania and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Between 1991 and 2014, he was a Director of Research at the CNRS, and worked at the Toulouse School of Economics, where he was a Scientific Director from 2011 to 2014. He was a Professor of Economics at the École Polytechnique from 1996 to 2003 and a Director of the “Institut d’Economie Industrielle” (IDEI) from January 2003 to July 2007.
