What will be the main challenges for competition authorities in 10 years?
Un-tipping and preventing digital markets from tipping is likely to be the most challenging task for competition authorities in the future. The problem of market tipping is critical because it is already spreading across many industries. Dominant digital companies likely have the incentives and means to enter other promising and innovative markets in order to tip them in their favour. Competition authorities worldwide should provide a common response to this problem, based on adequate and up-to-date methods and tools. Such investment would also enhance the effectiveness of competition policy in general, including in other areas of the economy as well.
There will be two panel discussions on Artificial Intelligence and Expanding the Power of Competition Authorities. Discover the view of our colleague Nina Rulié in her videos, which will be presented during the conference.
